THE BUS IS BACK. HAPPY JUNE PRIDE! Grab your pass quick!
After selling out in 2019, we're finally back on the road and ready to take the show along with us.
Join us for an unforgettable journey through Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ history, hosted by expert historian Dave Hayward (he/him) of the Atlanta LGBTQ+ Story Project and Touching Up Our Roots. With the help of our pals with the big green bus, the Rockin' Road Trip, we’ll explore key sites that shaped our community's legacy starting from Ansley Mall. See your city in a brand new way!
Dive into history and learn how Ansley Mall Mini Cinema and the 1969 raid on Andy Warhol's "Lonesome Cowboys" sparked the formation of the Georgia Gay Liberation Front. See Smith's Olde Bar, once known as Gene and Gabe's, home to the beloved cabaret performance "Della's Diner." Pay tribute to John Howell at John Howell Park, and explore the former site of Outwrite Books and the legendary Chuck's Rathskellar. Learn about the 2009 Eagle raid that led to significant legal changes and galvanized community activism and much much more as we pass over the iconic rainbow crosswalks and the former locations of key LGBTQ+ businesses. Our final tour stop will be the First Existentialist Congregation of Atlanta before making our way back to an Ansley afterparty.
Celebrate and honor the milestones of Atlanta's LGBTQ+ history with us on this engaging and educational tour.
